Hi folks! I’d like to introduce you to DesignLuv – a blog about design, development and being your own boss.

It’s our absolute pleasure to finally unveil this fabulous new project of ours to the design community. We’ve been planning this little gem for a few months now and we’re really beaming with excitement to watch it finally get off the ground. Now we just have to give it some time to really stretch its wings and find its place within the blogosphere.

To put it simply, our goal for DesignLuv was to develop a customised blog targetted specifically at exceptional designers, intelligent developers and true entrepreneurs who have a passion for what they do. We wanted to share our knowledge, meet new people and help act as a glue between all of the members within this wonderous community. For that is truly what it is and we love interacting with each and every one of you.

To cater for these three unique types of people, we established three core areas to our new site:

  • Creative – for the perfectionist web and graphic designer
  • Input/Output – for the passionate and gifted web developer
  • Workflow – for the new age web-based entrepreneur

Although we’re still young, we’ve tried to push a few fresh posts into each of these categories to hit the ground running, but we are still finding our feet. So, with this in mind, we do ask that you give us a little leeway while we get some quality content up and in place for you guys. We do have a number of awesome posts coming up that should go live within the next few days so keep your eyes peeled!

I have to be honest here though. For those of you who know us (yeah, we get around), you may notice some of the new posts found on DesignLuv from our own personal blogs. We wanted to remove our personal blogs anyway and we needed content for DesignLuv so it was a natural decision for us to simply transfer some of our best posts across to this new platform. I’m sure you’ll all agree that this is the better place for them. A place they can truly call home.

Now, seeing as we’re all about design, I thought I should also touch on my inspiration for the fresh layout on DesignLuv. Recently I have had a bit of an interest in 2D design and the use of 2D design on the web. As I was up one night browsing around, I came across a presentation by Leesean Hepnova titled “Its cool to be flat”. This video really struck a chord for me and solidified my beliefs in 2D design on the web. With a strong vision in mind, I pushed forward with the design of DesignLuv trying to keep as much as I possibly could flat. What you see is the outcome. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this new approach/layout.

Where to from here? Well, we need to start getting some quality content to our new readers and extending our hands to young bloggers, designers, developers and entrepreneurs the world over. We really want to get to know you guys. So, please, say hello to us on Twitter (@jonbergan and @marnieb), friend us up on Facebook (Jon, Marnie and our DesignLuv Fan Page) and come inspire us in our DesignLuv Flickr Group. Go on. It’d be awesome.

So, with a new site, a new vision and a whole lot of hustling to get done, we’re keen to get our hands dirty. Really dirty. And we’d love it if you all would join us for the ride.

Welcome to DesignLuv!
